Accessibility Week at the National Museum of the History of Ukraine!

Accessibility is not only about physical access to space. It is about respect, equality of opportunity, clear communication, a safe environment and the right of every person to be part of cultural life. Today, the topic of accessibility is extremely important for Ukrainian society. War, traumatic experiences, new challenges and needs force us to rethink museum space and put people at the center of attention. A museum is a space open to everyone. That is why we continue to work to make culture more accessible, closer and clearer for all visitors. As part of Accessibility Week, the museum will host the following thematic events:

May 23 at 1:00 PM – master class for children “Ancient Board Games”.

  • The program is designed for children aged 6-14.
  • The cost is 100 UAH.
  • Participants will get acquainted with ancient games in an easy and interactive way, through live communication, play and interaction.

May 26 at 12:00 ‒ excursion with interactive elements “Where Kyiv Begins”.

  • The cost is 100 UAH (visitors do not enter the museum during the excursion)
  • During a walk through the territory of the museum estate, guests will learn a lot of interesting things about ancient Kyiv in an accessible way, with live communication and interactive elements. The route is accessible to people in wheelchairs.

May 30 at 1:00 PM ‒ Interactive tour and master class “Workshop of Ancient Symbols”: simple language about the complex mysteries of the past.

  • The event is designed for children 9–12 years old.
  • Cost – 400 UAH.
  • Children will explore some of the museum’s oldest artifacts in an interactive way, complete various tasks, and reveal the secrets of ancient symbols. They will also make their own personal amulet using the knowledge they have already gained.

We invite you to join the events, conversations, and joint reflection on what a modern accessible museum should be like.
